About Julia Kelly

Julia is a former NYC stage and television actress with performances that include the long running stage production of Steel Magnolias, and roles on daytime TV and commercials.

However, Julia grew up on a farm in Loudoun County, Virginia. She was in the back seat of her family's green Pontiac when she first saw the waving girl. Her picture book, MYRTLE'S SECRET TRAILER TRIP is based on this imprint.

"I wanted to go, too!"

 -Myrtle's Secret Trailer Trip

Lonesome and stuck in a rural trailer park, Myrtle waves as cars and trucks and dogs and cats and ants pass by. However, Myrtle holds a secret about traveling too. Using her imagination, Myrtle goes on a beach adventure we won't ever forget.

Reader Response

While playing the role of Catherine in The Foreigner at a regional theater in Connecticut, Julia was a guest at a local elementary school. She read the story aloud for the first time and received these responses:

"I like the story, it was fantastic. I'm still using my imagination." - Wilfred

"I like the story, it was fantastic. I'm still using my imagination." - Wilfred

"Remember three things: Everybody is special, use your imagination, and every day is a special day." - David

"Remember three things: Everybody is special, use your imagination, and every day is a special day." - David

I wish I’d had your story when I was teaching fourth grade. It has lots of characteristics that we worked on in reading class. A three year old would understand the story if it had pictures, but a fourth grader would need no pictures and I know he or she would love it.
